Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by 11 runs

Monday was titled with the game between the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings and the team that missed playoffs for the seven last years, Punjab Kings. However, this season’s situation looks different as PBKS plays better than CSK.

The Kings opened the game batting first. Except for the opener Agarwal, everyone made a 100+ SR contribution, with the most runs delivered by Dhawan (88 from 59). Moreover, PBKS lost their second wicket in only the 18th over while failing two more times in the last one solely. It closed their attempt at 187 for four.

Such a scoreboard left CSK with plenty of chances to catch the opponents. However, the top order of their batters failed the game. Thus, Uthappa delivered only one run from seven balls, while Santner made only nine from 15 deliveries. In such conditions, Rayudu’s 78 from 39 didn’t save the champions, who finalised at 176 for six.

This game allowed PBKS to stay in the chasing group, which now has eight points in eight games. Four teams have only two points more, which is not the catastrophic gap in the middle of the season. CSK stays with four points in eight games, and it looks like the team will miss the playoffs this season. Want to know more about cricket and don’t miss the important news?
