Cricket in Russia will become an official sport

The Russian Ministry of Sports proposed to recognize cricket as a sport and to include it in the first section of the All-Russian Sports Register. According to TASS, the relevant documents are posted on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The first section of the All-Russian register of sports includes sports that are not national, military-applied and service-applied, as well as sports developing at the all-Russian level. In addition to cricket, the Ministry of Sports wants to recognize sports such as paddle (a mixture of tennis and squash), as well as the World Taekwondo Federation (GTF) taekwondo and the International Taekwondo Federation (WTF) taekwondo, which were previously included in the disciplines of the sport of taekwondo.

Recall that in 2009 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized cricket as a sport. At the Olympic Games, he was presented only once – in 1900 in Paris.
