The reigning champions of the Premier League, Chennai Super Kings, finally took their first points at the event. They broke the opposition of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the resulting game.
CSK started game batting, and most of their runs contribution belonged to two personalities – Uthappa and Dube. The first scored a crucial 88 from 50, while the second added another 95 from 46. With the forces of the other four batters, the Super Kings finalised the scoreboard with 216 for four and a great run rate.
The response of RCB started poorly, as the first three batters added only 21 runs from 28 balls. Nonetheless, the next four added a few dozen each, with everyone having great strike rates (two with 150+ and two with 235+). It gave chances for the Challengers to chase the opponents, but the closing four batters added moderate (for such a game) 28 runs from 23 balls and finalised the score of 193 for 9.
This victory breaks a four-game losing streak for title-holders and gives the first two points in the table. RCB, on the contrary, has lost the opportunity to lead the table but still has a solid three wins in five games and joint-first spot with six points.
