Gujarat Lions beat Lucknow in the first IPL game

Both newcomers in the IPL competition, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants faced each other in the first round of the IPL. The Titans celebrated a tough win over the Giants with a score of 161/5 (19.4) – 158/6 (20).

The beginning of the game was good for the Gujarat franchise, which decided to bowl first. Shami dismissed KL Rahul from the very first ball of the game, sending the star opener and captain off the game. The further batters didn’t also show anything interesting and left Lucknow with 29 runs for four wickets.

However, Hooda and Badoni turned the game into a moderate result when they stood for the fifth wicket bringing 87 runs. The Giants finished with 158 runs and six stumps lost, which meant chances for both sides.

Interestingly, Gujarat wasn’t also too persuasive with the first attempts in the game. Gill was dismissed with a duck from three balls, while another opener, Shankar, hit only four runs from 6 balls.

However, even without a half-century for either batter, the Titans chased their opponents at the very end of the game. Wade, Pandya, Miller, and Tewatia – all scored 30+ runs and made a historic first win for the young franchise in the IPL. Want to know more about cricket and don’t miss the important news?
